Artist Spotlight: Transforming the Geometry of the Ball
A study of how pattern, surface, and form can shift an iconic object into a cultural statement.
The soccer ball is already a design system: panels, seams, repetition, contrast, and movement. Artists do not start from zero. They start from an object the world already knows.
That familiarity is useful. A small intervention can completely alter how the object is read. Geometry, color blocking, and text placement can move it from sports equipment into edition, artifact, or message without losing its original energy.
This is where collaboration becomes interesting. The artist does not erase the game. The artist compresses memory, style, and critique into a form that can still circulate through sport. The object keeps its motion while gaining authorship.
For IMAZ, that transformation is the point. The more legible and resonant the object becomes, the more power it has to carry attention toward the people and programs it is meant to support.
